Cook and Shaker Bringing More Booze to Kensington

Longtime industry vet Laura Viegas is getting ready to open Cook and Shaker at 2301 East Albert Street. Cook and Shaker hopes to become your favorite everyday neighborhood spot, serving up comfort food with a twist and the prerequisite serious craft beer list and a menu of specialty cocktails.

They'll open the doors daily at 3 p.m. and serve food and drinks right up until midnight on weekdays and on weekends the fun starts at noon. at noon on weekends. The menu will change frequently, but Viegas promises that nothing will ever top the $15 mark, making Cook and Shaker an option for all wallet sizes. The veggie and vegan set will have plenty to eat, as well. The owner is all about freshness, too, and went to extremes to enforce that concept.

"I was adamant about not installing a walk-in cooler because I'd rather rely on a smaller reach-in model," says Viegas. "With less space for storage, our team will have to take time to make everything fresh, every day."
