Surprising news over the brief holiday break via The Insider: Val Stryjewski is no longer running the kitchen at Le Chéri. The restaurant has been open for just about six weeks, with early reviews being strongly positive.
The split is portrayed as remarkably amiable, with Stryjewski simply saying that he "wasn't a good match" for the position. Owner Charlotte Calmels suggests that the decision came down to management, not the food. (The restaurant and kitchen are significantly larger than their first restaurant, Bibou.)
With no word yet on who will take Stryjewski's place, Klein reports, chef-owner Pierre Calmels is currently spending a lot of time at Le Chéri.
