It's been almost a year since the sale of 2021 Chestnut, a building whose distant past held a YWCA annex, but whose more recent past apparently held mostly "mold, asbestos, rat feces, and pigeon droppings." It's future is said to hold 12 stories,110 apartments, and a roomy 4,236 square feet of restaurant space, though construction has still not begun.
But the project's start date may be soon, as a listing received today from CBRE is now citing November availability for the space. (Looks like Philadelphia Real Estate Blog is cautiously optimistic about the project, as well.)
So what would be the best fit for the space? What would you most like to see on this block? The location puts it within a stone's throw of El Rey, 1 Tippling Place and the Ranstead Room, Shake Shack, Village Whiskey, Capogiro, and plenty of other variety. The space is pretty big, but it's also listed as divisable, so don't necessarily limit your daydreaming to just one thing. Now, let's all set about speculating wildly in the comments and on Twitter!
