The Insider is reporting that Metropolitan Bakery will close its shop in Chestnut Hill for good this Friday, January 10. Metro has otherwise made some additions to their offerings in the past year or two, including their Rittenhouse cafe and gallery space. No specific reason is given for the closure in Chestnut Hill (which was a retail outlet only, without an on-site bakery), though it comes quietly and apparently at the end of their lease.
Klein adds that Chestnut Hill residents will still be able to purchase Metro goods at the Chestnut Hill Farmers Market, which is a year-round indoor market open three days a week. They'll begin vending there on January 23.
