The Replacement for Resurrection Ale House Debuts Tonight

Following the unexpected sale of Resurrection, Devil's Pocket Food & Spirits is ready to open its doors.

The bar that was Resurrection Ale House will reopen tonight under new ownership as Devil's Pocket Food & Spirits, reports Michael Klein. Owners Andrew Wagner (a chef who spent years in the Starr fold) and bartender Marcus Versace have given the space some minor cosmetic changes, and revamped the food and drink selections to be "more accessible."

The debut of the new bar is a bit delayed from the original plans — when Resurrection owners Leigh Maida and Brendan Hartranft announced the sale of the business, the plan was for a seamless overnight transition. Ultimately, there were a few weeks of downtime for the bar.

The menu at Devil's Pocket, according to Klein's report, is pretty straightforward bar fare: wings, salads, sandwiches, burgers, and so forth. This week, hours are 5 p.m. to 2 a.m.; beginning on October 27, they'll open at 11:30 a.m. for lunch. (Weekend brunch will follow later.)

Maida and Hartranft, meanwhile, are focusing their attention on a new West Philly project. Clarkville Beer will replace former pizza joint Best House, with hopes to open in spring of 2015.
