Gennaro's Tomato Pie Getting a Major Location Upgrade

Gennaro's Tomato Pie has been putting out notable pizza for about two years now from its notably cute space near 15th and Jackson. But now, says the Passyunk Post, owner Mike Giammarino is buying a new spot on the East Passyunk strip — because while "cute" is all well and good, "Singing Fountain-adjacent" carries a bit more weight.

Mike Klein has confirmed that Gennaro's will be moving into the now-shuttered Da Vinci space at 1533 South 11th Street (right near Fond). It will remain BYO. Giammarino plans to keep the original Gennaro's open until the new place is ready (mid-2015 is the goal), with no word yet on what will happen to the Jackson Street space after that.
