The Jack-O-Lentil Burger Comes to Life: Royal Tavern Salutes Bob's Burgers

New, 1 comment

One of Philly's favorite places for burgers is honoring one of TV's favorite shows about burgers.

Royal Tavern, as pretty much anyone will tell you, makes a great burger. That said, the bar's famous Angus Burger does suffer from some serious limitations: It's entirely rooted in our own all-too-familiar 3D reality, for one. For another, its name is not funny at all.

Luckily, the Royal has addressed those issues with a new run of specials that pay tribute to everyone's favorite cartoon burger joint, Bob's Burgers. Every week, chef Mark McKinney is yanking a burger straight off the Bob's Burgers special board and conjuring it into this realm.

Available now, the first special is a veggie burger called the Jack-O-Lentil, which showed up in the Halloween episode from season 3. McKinney has imagined it as a lentil patty dressed with pumpkin-habanero aioli, spinach, and poblano-tomato salad. It's available (for $12) until November 2, when the next burger will roll out.

All told, there will be 11 weeks of burgers, with a new one debuting every Sunday evening at 5 p.m. A rep gave us the following schedule, which is complete save for one burger which remains a mystery:

Mushroom with a View Burger (debuts November 2)
Poutine on the Ritz Burger
Bruschetta Bout It Burger
Eggers Can't Be Cheesers Burger
Don't You Four Cheddar 'Bout Me Burger
Chile Relleno-You-Didn't Burger
Enoki Dokie Burger
I Fought the Slaw Burger (And the Slaw Won)
Sweet Home Avocado Burger

This is the order the burgers are currently meant to appear in, though surely that could be subject to change at any time. Constant Twitter updates seem likely, if you want to be sure.

Just because, here's a gallery of all the burger specials from the show's earliest ten episodes:
