Port Richmond's Mercer Cafe has signed a lease and will be adding a second location at the Navy Yard, as confirmed today by the PIDC. The restaurant's expansion plans were first reported by Zagat last month. According to today's press release, the target for opening is now sometime in spring 2015.
The Mercer (which has family ties to Tacconelli's Pizzeria) is a breakfast and lunch spot that serves, among many other things, some of the best creamed chipped beef in the city. There's no official word yet on whether the menu or hours will be the same at the new location, but the Navy Yard does report the cafe will have outdoor seating, and Zagat says there will be pizza.
