The new West Philly location of Jake's Sandwich Board has quietly opened its doors at 40th and Sansom, which is great news for fans of hefty sandwiches, shakes, and french fries without limits.
The shop's official grand opening is slated for Monday, December 1, on which day they'll be giving away "complimentary 9 oz. mini bottles of Sriracha hot sauce to the first 500 students that show valid college ID." (That's mini, but not this mini.)
The option to order online for pickup from the new location is already up and running, but no delivery yet.
Jake's U City will close at 4 p.m. on Thanksgiving Eve (November 26), and be closed all day on Thanksgiving, but will reopen for normal hours on Friday, November 28. Normal hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., seven days a week. (The original plan was to remain open until 3 a.m. on weekends, but if that is still in the works, it's not being implemented yet.)
Also of note: Wednesday, December 3 will feature what they're calling the "3 For All" deal. For three hours (noon to 3 p.m.) on the third day of the month, any sandwich on the menu will be just $3. [An earlier version of this article stated that this deal would recur on the third of each month. It is actually a one-time deal.]
Jake's Sandwich Board, 125 South 40th Street, (215) 921-9580, now soft open.
