The former Crumbs at 18th and Moravian is now in the grasp of vegan restaurateur Nicole Marquis, whose portfolio is expanding at rapid speed. According to a report from Michael Klein, a liquor license application has been entered for the location under "Marquis Latin Philly LLC." While Marquis declined to confirm to Klein, he puts forth the rumor that the new shop will be a vegan taqueria.

Since she opened her first place — the animal-friendly fast-food spot HipCityVeg — Marquis has already added a second HipCityVeg and the vegan cocktail bar Charlie Was a Sinner, which just opened in May.

While other Crumbs shops around the country shuttered and then reopened this year, as the company filed for bankruptcy and subsequently retooled, this Philly location never really got any sort of traction. It limped along for not much more than a year, shutting its doors well before the company's larger troubles made headlines. The building — like the ones that house the original HCV and Charlie, is owned by developer Allan Domb.
