The next go-round of Philly Beer Week is not exactly upon us just yet — it's set for May 29 through June 7, 2015 — but it is time to think about throwing your hat in the ring to tag along on their annual brewer's trip.
Each year, a local brewer pairs up with a Belgian brewer to create a limited-run collaborative beer to serve as the signature brew of that year's Beer Week. This time, they'll be partnered with Brouwerij Hof ten Dormaal. And if you win, you'll tag along on a visit to their place in Tildonk, Belgium to help brew it.
Of note this year is that only half the batch of the collab beer will be tapped during Beer Week. The other half will be barrel-aged for six months before being released.
Raffle tickets for the trip are on sale as of today, and the winner will be drawn on December 9 at the brand-new City Tap House in Logan Square. When you buy a ticket, you also vote on which local brewer will get to take part in the collab (so be sure to choose someone who's talented and will make a good travel partner). There are more than 20 brewers on the ballot, representing Yards, Round Guys, Nodding Head, Evil Genius, and more.
You can buy tickets online, at City Tap House on the night of the drawing, or at a number of beer-centric events between now and then. Raffle tickets are $5 each, or five for $20.
