Dottie's Dinette, A Pared-Down 'Classic American Diner' for Fishtown

The new breakfast and lunch spot has a Garces alum running the kitchen.

There's a new breakfast and lunch spot called Dottie's Dinette now serving in Fishtown, across from SugarHouse casino, according to a report from Michael Klein. And, he says, Garces vet Susan Vanvreede is in as chef/manager (a title that's hopefully just a bit less exhausting than it reads).

The menu, found here, is more tightly edited than most diners, covering the basics without endless variations. Standards are rendered simply for the most part —the burger comes topped with just lettuce, tomato, onion, and Thousand Island — though several items offer a few optional add-ons. (One exception is the Cobb salad, which eschews the standard Cobb format in favor of an appealing combo of chorizo, Cabrales blue cheese, and confit cherry tomatoes.)

Bonus: Pancakes are sold individually, at $2 apiece. Double bonus: Fried pickles are available as a side.

Hours are 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.
