A Champagne and Caviar Lounge Is Popping Up at Fork for the New Year

Somehow, they've found room for a baby grand piano.

This year's New Year's Eve celebration at Fork will include a luxe lounge experience — baby grand, snacks of the one percent, and all. A mini preview lounge will pop up by the bar on December 26, then expand into the restaurant's private dining room to provide a suitably festive atmosphere for NYE.

The pop-up is the work of the same woman who designed Fork's dining room, designer Marguerite Rodgers. (Rodgers has worked on many of Philly's swankest spaces — including, recently, Volver.) From December 26 through 30, from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. nightly, the lounge by the bar will provide cozier-than-usual seating, live piano music, and a special menu of sparkling wines that you can pair with oysters and other bites.

On December 31, whether you're having your New Year's dinner at Fork or not, you can check out the full-on pop-up in the private dining room, which promises a 1920s cocktail parlor vibe. The restaurant's special holiday dinner is $95 per person (details here), and for a supplement of $50 per person, you can also enjoy the lounge for an hour.

If you're not dining at Fork, you can opt for a 2-and-a-half hour cocktail party in the lounge for $95 per person. Either way, there will be plenty of music, sparkling wine and other drinks, oysters, and canapes. (It probably goes without saying that you should call to reserve in advance no matter what you choose.)
