EAST PASSYUNK CROSSING — Hopes for South Philly Barbacoa to set up shop in the mosaic-festooned warehouse at 1002 Watkins St. were nixed in the earliest stages at a zoning committee meeting last night, reports the Passyunk Post. Their cart should continue to set up on Sunday mornings at 8th and Watkins, and the principals will continue to look for space nearby. [P'yunk Post]
NOLIBS — Eater National picked up PYT's latest stunt, the Deep-Fried Ellio's Pizza Burger, in recognition of the Piazza standby's noble "effort to rid the world of its normal hamburger bun problem." [-EN-]
OLD CITY — Blah blah snow mutter ice storm whatever, let's just cut straight to the day-drinking deals and get it over with already. Sassafras, for one, has already decided to put their V-Day cocktail specials on at a reduced price tomorrow, February 13. (They include a lavender-infused champagne affair and a coconut-white chocolate-whipped cream situation called the Winter Love; $6-$7 apiece on Thursday and $6-$9 on Friday and Saturday.) NB: They've got a fireplace in there, too. [EaterWire]
