Tonight's the grand opening for Ela co-owner and Top Chef NOLA contestant Jason Cichonski's latest, The Gaslight, which replaces the Philadelphia Bar and Grill. (The place has been in soft-opening mode since about the beginning of the month, which is why you've already seen it on the Heatmap.)
With the help of James Fujioka (also of Ela), Cichonski's put together a dinner menu and an all-day weekend brunch menu leaps and bounds more interesting than what they replaced. (Think whiskey-caramel mustard or Thai peanut sauce on the wings, veal bacon on the BLT, and an extensive waffle menu at brunch including rye waffles and "foiefuls.") At the bar: the cocktails come saddled with some cringeworthy names but run a flat ten bucks a pop, and the draft list is pretty gorgeous.
