Current reservation status at Nicholas Elmi's tiny East Passyunk BYOB: booked solid into June. Keep 'em peeled for an announcement when they crack that book again, but for now, mark down Monday, April 7 in your calendars.
What could possibly inspire us to already be yammering on about April? Oh, just that that's the night that Laurel is scheduled to take over the 'indoor food truck' at the Garage. (Good thing they're used to operating in small spaces.) Consider: The kitchen crew behind Laurel's famously refined (and now impossible-to-come-by) food. Skee ball. Beer in cans.
The Garage has already played host to the likes of Avance sous Trevor Budny, in addition to proven street food aces like Poi Dog and Street Food Philly, and it's always a good time. The regular schedule gets posted on their Facebook; they pretty much always start at 6 p.m., though we'll keep you posted of any specific details on the Laurel event as they arise.
"We just figured that we've been taking ourselves so seriously at Laurel, it'll be good for us to do something different and fun," Elmi told Eater when sharing the news. Of course, it's way too far out for there to be a menu ready to go. So much the better, because now we can all conjecture wildly and make our requests known. It's probably safe to assume they're not planning on corn dogs... or is it?
Guys, please make Philly some corn dogs.
