Karina's, the East Passyunk BYOB that last year announced a move that would make way for birreria and pizzeria Brigantessa, has had a few false starts on its way to re-opening. Now, the Passyunk Post is reporting that Karina's has settled on 617 South Third Street as their new location. After the closing of Argentinean Hoof + Fin in the spring of 2011, the space was very briefly home to Zen Nor, which closed suddenly and not without controversy.
Initially, Karina's planned to move just around the corner from their old home at 1520 East Passyunk. According to the P'yunk Post, that space ended up needing more work than could be accomplished in their tight schedule for re-opening. A location on Ritner Street was considered, but quickly nixed. Hopefully, this new Queen Village spot will stick. (Speaking of Hoof + Fin, chef Lucas Manteca was a James Beard semifinalist this year for his Cape May restaurant The Red Store, for anyone who's been wondering after him.)
