The winner of this year's Piglet — Food52's annual, head-to-head cookbook mega-showdown — is Philly native Louisa Shafia's New Persian Kitchen. The competition included heavy hitters like the Roberta's Cookbook, Suzanne Goin's A.O.C. cookbook, and Edward Lee's Smoke and Pickles, and was judged by the likes of David Chang, Amanda Cohen, and April Bloomfield. All the more incentive to head to Zahav in two weeks for Shafia's cookbook dinner celebrating Persian New Year (which Eater wrote about last week), where you'll get to try dishes from the book and take a copy home with you.
