KENSINGTON — First Friday's coming up again, and that means it's Firkin Friday at Cook and Shaker. This month, the art component comes courtesy of NJ's Living Out Loud tattoo studio, and the beer's coming from Neshaminy Creek. They're bringing their Tribute Tripel conditioned with sangria and Blitzkrieg Hops Double IPA, which is making its Philly debut. (Event starts at 8 p.m., May 2.) [Philly Tap Finder]
AROUND TOWN — The New York Daily News hit Philly for a piece over the weekend that highlighted our dining scene. The piece praised hotspots like Vernick, Elixr coffee, and Vedge, whose unique way with plants "unlock[s] some secret personality in every stalk and leaf." [NYDN]
PHOENIXVILLE — It's almost Goat Race Weekend! Or, more accurately: this weekend is Sly Fox's annual Bock Fest, which is scheduled for Sunday, May 4 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. That means beer and German food and music and GOAT RACES. (Oh, and if you were hoping to hit the brewery's Pottstown location that day, take note that it's closed.) [EaterWire]
