Bank & Bourbon
1200 Market St. (at the Loews)
Phone: 215-231-7300; website
The ground floor of the Loews hotel is back up and running, now as "inherently American" concept Bank & Bourbon. The new restaurant and bar is the end result of extensive renovations that moved the hotel's restaurant and bar operations up to temporary digs on the 33rd floor. Bank & Bourbon features its own entrance on 12th Street and a heavy focus on meat and whiskey. (Still a hotel restaurant, though, it does open early and serve all day.)
The dinner menu features domestic cheeses and charcuterie — including a flight of American hams and some items made in-house — and some hefty steaks (the largest, a 32-oz. dry-aged cowboy steak, will set you back $80). (All of their menus can be found here. )
In addition to a nice bourbon list at the bar, B&B is also touting an in-house barrel-aging program. They'll serve tastings of their own aged bourbons, or you can even opt to invest in an on-site "bourbon locker" that will allow you to blend and age your own. Kitchen hours are 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily; the bar is open from 11:30 a.m. to 1 a.m. daily.
