Laurel's Nick Elmi Takes on the Fishtown Taco Exchange; A Bing Bing Dim Sum Preview

FISHTOWNNick Elmi of Laurel and Top Chef fame will be the next guest chef up at Sancho Pistola's Fishtown Taco Exchange. It's going down on Monday, June 2 and since it's Beer Week, Lagunitas will be there too (on the docket: Lagunitas Sucks, Pilsner, IPA, Maximus, Waldo, and Sumpin' Sumin' Extra). Elmi tells Eater he's "pretty sure" he'll be making an oxtail double decker with fermented black bean and epazote, if you need more convincing.

MEALS ON WHEELS — The Cow and the Curd truck has found enough success with its fried cheese curds to spawn a sequel: The Cow and the Curd 2 will make its debut in Lambertville on June 12, and its specialty is poutine. [Philly.com]

NORTHEAST — Even more poutine news: Commonwealth Kitchen opened this week in Holmesburg with the dish on their menu — plus other versions of topped fries, quality cheesesteaks and burgers, and more. The new restaurant is owned by Chris Moynihan, who also happens to be the uncle of Shawn Darragh (co-owner of Cheu Noodle Bar and upcoming Bing Bing). [Zagat]

WASH SQUARE WEST — Speaking of Bing Bing, Darragh and chef/partner Ben Puchowitz will preview the new dim sum shop at this Saturday's block party (hosted by Varga Bar) on 10th Street, outside of Cheu. Starting at noon, they'll be serving up buns filled with your choice of egg and cheese or pastrami, egg, and cheese, along with $3 Narragansett cans. [Twitter]
