Newcomer Petruce et al. is still technically in dinner-only mode, but will open early on Mother's Day (yes, that's this Sunday, May 11, slackers) for brunch. GM and co-owner Tim Kweeder told Eater that the restaurant hopes to launch brunch officially in a couple of months, with this weekend serving as a trial run.
If your mom's a restaurant enthusiast or if you're just looking to avoid the special-occasion hotel brunch this time around, this seems like a perfect chance to check out a place that's been gathering some major buzz. After little more than a month in business, Petruce et al. has already gotten one glowing review in City Paper, Philly Mag seems to have their take ready to go for the next issue, and Craig LaBan expressed his excitement for the spot in yesterday's restaurant chat.
Reservations for this Sunday's brunch service are available on OpenTable starting at noon. Kweeder says the menu will be an abbreviated form of the regular menu with a few brunch-specific additions including sourdough pancakes and a burger. UPDATE: We've now added the full menu below.
This isn't the only exciting new brunch popping up in time for Mother's Day: Zagat Philly also caught word that another recent opening and Heatmap addition, Society Hill Society, is launching brunch on Sunday, too. East Passyunk's Noord is also getting into the brunch game this weekend, though it looks like Mother's Day brunch tables are booked at the moment. (Can't hurt to keep an eye on it, though—or grab a reservation for an upcoming weekend.)
