Big Gay Ice Cream, the cult-favorite NYC shop born of the cult-favorite NYC truck, is coming to Philadelphia — maybe as early as August. The expansion plans were officially announced last night at Vetri's Great Chefs Event, confirming earlier rumors. The shop specializes in soft-serve with creative flavors, dips, and names — perhaps best-known is the Salty Pimp, but American Globs is no slouch, either. They also specialize in amazing photos, apparently.

The shop will be located at Carl Dranoff's SouthStar Lofts, which will also house Kevin Sbraga's next project, which promises a rotisserie and raw bar. Owners Douglas Quint and Bryan Petroff, who now have two Big Gay shops in New York, also plan to open up in Los Angeles this summer.
