Last year, in celebration of National Fried Chicken Day (sure, why not), Federal Donuts tucked a pair of Wonka-style "golden tickets" into random chicken orders. Those tickets entitled the lucky recipients to free fried chicken for life. But when one of the tickets went unclaimed, they ended up raffling off a replacement ticket to anyone who donated a dollar to Broad Street Ministry.
This year, the golden ticket is back, but you'll have to dig a bit deeper if you want a chance at it: To enter the raffle, you'll have to pledge $20 or more to FedNuts' Rooster Soup Co. Kickstarter, the project in support of BSM that we told you all about last week. And you have to do so by 11:59 p.m. on Saturday, July 5. (If you've already backed the campaign, you're already entered.)
The winner will be chosen on Sunday, July 6. Win or lose, they'll also have limited-edition "FedNuggets" on special that day at all of their stores. Made with boneless thighs and given the same cure and double-fry as their regular chicken, a pack of four will run $6 and be served with coffee barbecue, honey mustard, and pineapple Polynesian dipping sauces.
The Rooster Soup Co. Kickstarter has raised $56,536 in pledges so far, putting it a bit more than a third of the way toward its goal, with one month left in the campaign.
