This Thursday, July 17, A.Bar at the AKA Rittenhouse Square hotel will debut a new menu by chef Eli Kulp. He and Ellen Yin (Fork/High Street on Market owner and Kulp's partner in their recently-formed High Street Hospitality Group) partnered with AKA to revamp both A.Bar and its older sibling restaurant, A.Kitchen, earlier this year. A.Kitchen debuted its new dinner menu (to critical acclaim) back in March, but the overall vision was still a work in progress.
As with its old menu, the focus at A.Bar remains on the raw bar and various cold preps — the space was never even outfitted with its own hot kitchen. But there is some additional kitchen space on site they share with A.Kitchen, and now they're putting it to use to roll out a few new hot items at the bar, including a whole branzino and yes, a burger.
The menu is divided into oysters and other cold seafood, crudos, snacks, and larger plates. Notably, the "snacks" section of the menu does away with the old focus on charcuterie in favor of some more ambitious starters. For photos, check out Eli Kulp's Instagram feed.
