Circles chef Alex Boonphaya is partnering with his sous chef Silvestre Rincon to open a Thai taqueria called Tuk Tuk Real. The Thai-Mexican fusion spot is aiming for a mid-August opening on South Street.
The two chefs are staging one of Circles' "knife fight" dinners next week to preview the new concept. And to satisfy the prerequisite of an additional prize-gimmick, the title of Tuk Tuk's executive chef will go to whichever chef's dishes are favored by that night's crowd.
The Tuk Tuk Real preview "knife fight" will be held at Circles' Northern Liberties location on Thursday, July 24th at 6:30 p.m. The 6-course dinner (featuring dishes prepared by both chefs, using a mandatory list of Thai and Mexican ingredients) runs $40 per person, There's room for 45 people, who will vote on the dishes to determine a winner for the night.
