With all the Rooster Soup Co. excitement from the CookNSolo camp lately, you might've almost forgotten that Mike Solomonov and his team have been hard at work on a hummusiya and a sibling restaurant highlighting "cuisine of the Jewish diaspora." Last we heard, Dizengoff and Abe Fisher were hoping to be open by July. Of course, with just two days left in the month, it looks like they'll be a little later yet, but a rep says they should be up and running soon. (Abe is signed up for Center City Restaurant Week, at least, which starts September 7.)
But we're getting a little antsy, so here are some photos to ogle while we all wait. The overall effect of the facades is surprisingly understated so far, despite pops of fuschia, bright orange, and yellow — but from what we've seen of the interiors, they're going to be really fun.
That cheery yellow door you see in the middle is connected to the Abe Fisher dining room, but it's just an additional safety exit — the actual entrance is by the sign to the right. Federal Donuts is just across the street, so Mike Solo superfans may never again find reason to leave this small stretch of Sansom.
A few peeks inside have come via Instagram: Check out Dizengoff's fun tilework and the truly imposing Robot Coupe they've brought in to handle all that hummus. (They've been posting a little food porn, too, and surely there will be lots more to come, so you might want to give a follow here and here.)
