La Peg
140 N. Columbus Blvd., at FringeArts
Phone: 215-375-7744; website
Status: Open
It's officially opening night for La Peg, the waterfront brasserie at the new FringeArts building, from chef Peter Woolsey (Bistrot la Minette). The restaurant seats 100 inside, with a bar that seats 12 and features eight taps. An additional 40 seats and another bar are found outside, in a spacious garden with views of the Delaware and the Ben Franklin Bridge.
Nich Bazik, who's been working under Woolsey at Minette, is chef de cuisine. La Peg's sizable menu (which you can check out below) emphasizes French small plates, with a handful of larger plates and a $30 prix fixe option. Flavor-wise, you'll find touches of Asian influence throughout the menu. Currently, the restaurant is open nightly for dinner and late-night bar hours. (Reservations are now live at OpenTable.) Lunch and brunch hours will be added in the near future.
