There's a tiny new Japanese restaurant called Kai now open at 12 South Tenth Street (just below Market), according to this report from the Insider. They're open for lunch and dinner six days a week (closed Sundays), and offer plenty of very affordable lunch specials. (There's also a deal on their FB page for 15% off and a free sake.)
