Honeygrow, the homegrown mini-chain specializing in salads, stirfries, and smoothies, is closing in on New York City with a freshly-inked lease that has them expanding to Hoboken. Sitting directly across the Hudson River from the Meatpacking District and West Village, it will be the chain's fifth location when it opens its doors.
Honeygrow Hoboken will occupy two adjacent spaces, one of which was an Italian restaurant, the other an antiques dealer. "Some crazy stuff in that basement," reports owner Justin Rosenberg, who's hoping some of those found objects will be salvageable as decor for the new shop. Though he's still in talks with designers (including Philly's DAS Architects and nearby Groundswell Design), the plan is to preserve some existing design features and incorporate the work of local Hoboken artists.
Projected opening for the Hoboken location is early spring 2015. It will follow the opening of their Cherry Hill location, which is on track to debut early next year. Honeygrow currently has locations in Center City, Radnor, and Bala Cynwyd.
