$100 Tasting at Volver; Aldine Has a Pastry Chef

Plus: A slew of local chefs on this season of Hell's Kitchen, premiering tonight.

AVENUE OF THE ARTS — Tomorrow, September 11, Volver will offer a 10-course tasting menu for $100, a special format that's sort of a compromise between their pre-theater tasting and their usual performance tasting. Could this be a sign Garces is still trying to find the sweet spot for his Kimmel Center showpiece, after Craig LaBan's review dinged the place for putting forth too much food (and ego) at too high a cost? FOOD TV — A new season of Hell's Kitchen — the show that just may be shouty chef Gordon Ramsay's very shoutiest accomplishment to date — airs tonight at 8 p.m. on Fox. This season features three Philly chefs: Denine Giordano (of Local Tavern, at the airport), Jennifer Salhoff (just named exec at Cuba Libre), and Sade Dancy (of the Treemont). A fourth contestant, Ashley Sherman, cooks in Bethlehem, PA. [EaterWire]

RITTENHOUSE — Chef Sara May is in as pastry chef at upcoming Aldine, the highly anticipated new restaurant from George and Jennifer Sabatino. May was named a StarChefs Rising Star Artisan during her time at Franklin Fountain, and has since put in time at Little Nonna's and Vedge. [MT]
