Food, Art, & Food Art: Feastival's Silent Auction Is Live

The fifth annual Feastival is coming up next week, but you can start bidding on their silent auction items now. The massive tasting event is a fundraiser for FringeArts, so it follows that the items up on the auction block range from crazy fantasy dinners to live performances to food art from local visual artists. (Tickets to the main event are still available, too.)

The big-ticket items are a pair of private dinners, starting at $10,000, prepared by a who's who of Philly chefs. The first includes Nick Elmi (Laurel), Jason Cichonski (Ela, the Gaslight), Terence Feury (Tavro 13), Natalie Maronski (Volver), Jon Cichon (Lacroix), and Chris Kearse (Will); a second brings together Mike Solomonov (Zahav et al.), Greg Vernick (Vernick Food + Drink), George Sabatino (upcoming Aldine), Joncarl Lachman (Noord), Andrew Wood (Russet), and Peter Woolsey (La Peg, Bistrot La Minette).

Or, with a starting bid of $7,500, you could opt for a surfing trip with "certified broceanographer" Mike Solo. (Between this and Rooster Soup's "skydive with Solo" Kickstarter reward, the door seems open for a person to buy their way into a genuine, extreme sports-based relationship with the chef — given a large enough bank balance, of course.)

If those all sound a bit fanciful, the full auction list includes plenty of packages with starting bids that are more within reach — like a Hawk Krall original kicking off at just $50, packages of gift certificates to local restaurants, and ticket packages for the Fringe Festival and other live arts.
