The Fat Ham, Kevin Sbraga's West Philly tribute to Southern comfort, flirted with lunch for a few months last year, but the midday meal didn't stick. And that was a shame, because their lunch-only pimento cheese burger was really tasty, and all-day access to hot chicken was an obvious boon. So, great news: lunch is back, the burger is back (OK, technically it already was back, but in various limited forms), and all is right in U City.

The pimento cheese burger now comes with fries instead of the old sweet potato chips, and the rest of the lunch menu features greatest hits including the notorious hot chicken, the mustard greens (one of Philly's very best salads), excellent collard greens, and more. Starting this week, lunch is on every Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

But there's another new addition to get stoked on, too: happy hour. It's every Monday through Friday from 5 to 7 p.m., and the list of $4 snacks is stellar: Hot chicken sliders would be worth the trip alone, but there are also pork rinds with ranch and the hush puppies that critic Adam Erace recently called "the best iteration [he's] had of that homey snack".

Happy hour drink specials include, among others, $2 High Lifes and a $6 rotating punch special.
