In December, Rob Wasserman's long-troubled Saint James shut it down and announced plans for a then-unspecified rebrand. This week brings news of what's next: a casual, family-friendly wood-fired pizza spot called Parlor Pizza Bar.
A full makeover for the space comes courtesy of Otto Architects (who recently debuted a pop art-inspired buildout for Girard brasserie, and are currently working on Tria Fitler Square), built around a slick "Ferarri-red" pizza oven imported from Modena. Opening is slate for early March, a slight bump from initial projections of mid-February.
There's no menu out yet, though there are promises of pasta and salads in addition to pizza. Once open, you'll also find a wine list built with an eye toward affordability: keg wine selections will start at just $6 a glass, and bottles should begin around $18.
