Alumni of Franklin Mortgage and Kennett should have their new bar and restaurant ready to go within weeks.

Opening day is creeping up at Brick & Mortar, according to an item in Details' roundup of 25 anticipated bar openings around the country. Leading the new project is Mike Welsh, who was a founding partner at Franklin Mortgage; Brian Ricci, most recently of Kennett, will head up the kitchen. Details also notes that another Franklin Mortgage alum, Christina Rando, will assume the role of lead bartender.

Clearly, the team was undeterred by this sarcastic press release circulated a few months ago by the well-known Boston cocktail bar also called Brick & Mortar.

No menus have been released yet, but the aim is to create a "gathering place for the neighborhood," with a focus on comfort food, local craft beer, and cocktails (including "bottled and batched" drinks) in line with the pedigree of the mixologists leading the project.
