Eater Philly's Guide to Food-Friendly Thanksgiving and Fall Events

Celebrate with all-you-can-eat pig, prix fixe menus, heritage breed turkeys, and more.

A Twisted Thanksgiving at The Twisted Tail

What: The Twisted Tail is offering a "down-home Southern, family-style Thanksgiving". Live music, not-just-turkey offerings (think prime rib, and pineapple glazed ham), sides of brussel sprouts with pancetta, andouille cornbread dressing, and yukon mashed potatoes, and a selection of pies for dessert. The price is $42 for adults and $25 for children aged three to 10.

Where: The Twisted Tail, 509 S. 2nd Street

When: Thursday, November 26, 12:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.

Serpico Thanksgiving Dinner

What: A family-style dinner of traditional Thanksgiving fare: herb roasted turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce with orange and spices, mac and cheese, pies, and the like — all cooked by James Beard Award winning chef Peter Serpico. Open Table or a call to the restaurant is good for a reservation, and attendance is $75 a person (not including tax/gratuity).

Where: Serpico, 604 South Street

When: Thursday, November 26, 2:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Thanksgiving at Square 1682

What: Parsnip soup, heritage-breed roasted turkey, pear crostata, and not to mention relatively inexpensive bottles of wine make for a great Thanksgiving feast. Being only a stone's throw away from Rittenhouse Square, Square 1682's three-course prix fixe menu is a great way to cap off a day spent gallivanting around the city. Call the restaurant to make a reservation.

Where: Square 1682, 121 S. 17th Street

When: Thursday, November 26

Traditional Thanksgiving Dinner with all the Trimmings at Davio's

What: In addition to their regular menu, Davio's will offer a special Thanksgiving Day $59 Pre-Fixe Menu of roasted butternut bisque, roasted turkey, savory herb stuffing, green beans. If you're not too full, pick a $10 dessert from the cart to finish off the night. Reservations are necessary for this event; call the restaurant to make your own.

Where: Davio's Northern Italian Steakhouse, 111 S. 17th St

When: Thursday, November 26, from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Thanksgiving Shopping at Di Bruno Bros.

What: More of a DIY Thanksgiving fan? The Di Bruno Bros. butcher shop in their Rittenhouse location is offering three breeds of heritage turkeys: Koch's All-Natural American Bronze Turkey (locally produced and offer smaller breasts and richer, more flavorful dark meat), Jaindl's All-Natural Broad Breasted White Turkey (Lancaster County-raised and served at the White House for the past six administrations), and Joyce Farms All-Natural Spanish Black Turkey (superior skin and fat content, air-chilled for exceptional flavor and texture, and only available at Di Bruno Bros.). The store will even offer a pre-made brine selection: Herb and Garlic Butter dry brine, Sweet Cider, or Savory Cajun.

Where: Di Bruno Bros., 1730 Chestnut Street
