Georgann Leaming and Angelo Polito, owners of Suppa in Northern Liberties, are giving the space at 600 Catharine Street another go. The former Blue Belly BBQ, followed by Square Pie (before it moved across the street), will soon reopen under the name Samwich, inspired by the section of the Suppa menu dedicated to them.
Leaming is one of Philly's local Chopped contestant/winners, and her first restaurant Suppa just celebrated its second anniversary. Suppa will start delivery via Caviar, and as the tiny corner space necessitates, much of Samwich's business will be through Caviar and take-out.
