Circles Thai Expands To Collingswood

Alex Boonphaya cornered the Thai market in Philly. Now it's time to cross the bridge.

Eight years ago, chef Alex Boonphaya opened a tiny Thai take-out spot in South Philly called Circles Thai, and since then, he's built himself an empire. Boonphaya opened a second Circles location in Northern Liberties, then wandered off-concept a bit with Tuk Tuk Real on South Street, only to turn it into Circles - Headhouse. And now, for his fourth installment, he's opening yet another Circles in Collingswood, New Jersey, on the ground floor of the Lumberyard Condominiums in late December.

The new Circles will be BYOB, with 40 seats inside and 15 on the patio, and, of course, delivery/take-out will be available. Boonphaya will introduce the South Jersey crowd to his blazing "Thai Tap Out", a coursed meal/contest that increases in spice level as you go along — the further you get, the cheaper your meal is (if you get to the end, the meal is free). He's also planning on throwing a "Social Circle", where guests eat a multi-coursed dinner for free, the only "payment" being some love on social media.

Look out for more details soon to come.
