Martha Brings Locavore Drinking to Kensington

Hoagies and local everything comes to Kensington December 17.

A few months ago, we broke news about Jon Medlinsky, Cary Borish, and Mike Parsell's neighborhood bar, Martha, opening in Kensington one week from today, December 17. The high-ceiling'd bar, made cozy with a fireplace and record player, will boast 24 taps of draft beer, wine, and cocktails. The cocktails, designed by bartendress-about-town Phoebe Esmon, utilize local spirits only, like the Hog Island Special, basically a draft coffee liqueur-spiked Manhattan using Dad's Hat rye and Rowhouse Spirits Le Coeur Noir. Martha's bar might stock the biggest selection of local spirits Philly's ever seen — a telling sentiment about the city's burgeoning distillery scene.

Food-wise, it's all quick and easy at Martha: chef Tim Kirkland's menu of Philly Bread hoagies, small vegetable plates, cheese and charcuterie add to the casual aesthetic, where you can enjoy a drink and a bite until 1:00 a.m. More details coming soon, but in the mean time, check out Martha, in all her beauty.
