Neon Lobster Will Bring The Shore To South Philly

A limited menu starts on New Years Day.

Growing up, Neon Lobster owner George Forman split time between Atlantic City and South Philly, where he eventually decided to open his "boardwalk style" seafood take-out spot at 2101 S. 3rd Street.

Weeks from opening (look for a limited Mummer's Day menu), Forman is still in menu-development stages, crowd-sourcing the wants and needs from the surrounding neighborhood. So far, he and his chef Jason Groves, previously of Jersey's Maplewood Italian restaurants, decided on morning La Colombe coffee and diner-style breakfasts, and in the afternoon — seafood, all day, till close. The space will have a few high-tops for seating options, but focus primarily on take-out, with ideas for curb-side service once things settle down. Forman is working with local purveyors to create a menu of "very affordable" lobster tails, crab cakes, mussels, colossal shrimp, and the like.

With the upgraded Fourth and Cross's recent reopening, Neon Lobster will likely be a welcome addition to Pennsport's budding dining scene.
