Belgian waffles and fries will headline the menu at Waffles & Wedges, coming soon to the small space at Pine and Hicks streets that used to house Mexico on the Square (also formerly Chicken Noodles, RIP), according to a report from Danya Henninger for Philly.com. It's the first brick-and-mortar venture for the owners of Pbon's Fresh Phood truck, and they're sticking with a decidedly street-food theme even as they move inside.
The full menu is not yet ready to go, but Liège waffles (available whole or in bite-size pieces) and baked potato wedges (regular or sweet potato) are the stars. (Meanwhile, the shop's Instagram includes a photo of waffle fries.) Both wedges and waffle bites will come in portable cones with "more than two dozen" dipping sauce options to choose from. Per Henninger's report, there will also be a few sandwiches on the menu.
Waffles & Wedges, 1511 Pine Street, opening spring 2015.
