You'll Have to Wait a Little Longer to Check Out Brick & Mortar

The restaurant and bar from Franklin Mortgage alum Mike Welsh has hit upon "a few delays."

Originally slated to open today at the Goldtex building, Brick & Mortar has pushed back it's opening by "a few weeks," citing unspecified delays. The American restaurant and bar (whose name rubbed one restaurateur the wrong way last year) is the latest from Mike Welsh, who co-founded Franklin Mortgage and Investment Co. B&M also features ex-Kennett chef Brian Ricci in the kitchen, and another Franklin alum, Christina Rando, in the role of head bartender.

While the full menu has not yet been released, some dishes from the opening menu have shown up on social media and at a tasting last month at Reading Terminal. Among the teases have been a kale and herb salad with squash, parmesan, and tahini-maple dressing; seared Napa cabbage with sunchoke and lardo; short ribs with seared kale and lentils; hoisin-marinated hanger steak with lime; and sticky toffee pudding.

Brick & Mortar, 315 North 12th Street (at the Goldtex building), (215) 534-6987, opening winter 2015.
