RITTENHOUSE — Despite its status as a locally iconic dish, pepper pot soup is not something you see on many restaurant menus these days. But now, Davio's is stepping up and offering their version of the classic — tripe and all — as a limited-time-only special for $11 a bowl. No word on exactly how long they'll be keeping it around, so if you've got a craving, go satisfy it soon. [EaterWire]

OLD CITY — On Wednesday, February 18 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Jason Cichonski's the Gaslight will host a happy-hour fundraiser in support of Morris Animal Refuge and their annual Fur Ball. There will be prizes, some free food, and the bar's happy hour menu of drinks and plates priced at just $3 to $5, with proceeds benefiting the Ball. [EaterWire]

IN PRINT — The Washington Post reviews chefs Jeremy and Jessica Nolen's new cookbook, New German Cooking — and not to spoil it for you or anything, but they like the book. Better yet, they've reprinted a few recipes, including cheesy, ham- and pea-laced spaetzle and a quark cheesecake with pretzel crust. [WaPo]
Elsewhere, old-timey candy shop Shane Confectionery nabbed a feature in Victoria magazine's March/April 2015 issue. Here, you can watch a brief but mildly mesmerizing video of the shop's clear toy candies being made. [Victoria]
