Cake Shakes Make Their Triumphant Return as SquareBurger Reopens

This weekend, welcome burgers back to Franklin Square and get stoked for summer.

If the taco crawls and first murmurs of the return of Morgan's Pier weren't enough indication that warmer, happier days are finally upon us, this should do it: SquareBurger will reopen for their 2015 season in Franklin Square this Saturday, March 21. Who cares if there's still a little snow marring the forecast? You'll be positively loopy on sunshine and Butterscotch Krimpet-spiked shakes before you know it.

Actually, the snow has caused some headaches: There was supposed to be a first-day-of-spring opening celebration for the park (complete with cake shakes) on Friday. That event has now been pushed back to Thursday, March 26, but the Stephen Starr-run burger stand still plans to begin serving up its full menu of burgers, dogs, fries, floats, and shakes right on schedule this weekend.

For the remainder of March, SquareBurger will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, with hours shifting throughout the season. Here's the full schedule of hours for 2015:

March 21 to 31: 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., daily
April 1 to May 21: Monday through Thursday, 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Sunday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
