Robeks Opens in Ardmore; A Citywide Benefit for PAWS

ARDMORE — Los Angeles-based smoothie chain Robeks opened the doors today at its new Suburban Square shop. The brand made its local debut last year with a shop at 11th and Chestnut streets, with a stated intent to open 37 total stores in the area over time. [Philly.com]

PHILADELPHIA — A wide variety of local businesses — including many restaurants, bars, and food trucks — have signed on to participate in Philly Loves PAWS, pledging 10% of their sales on Wednesday, May 20 to benefit the Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society. Participating businesses include Rival Bros. coffee, P'unk Burger, the Trestle Inn, Foolish Waffles, Cantina Dos Segundos, and many more; here's a full list and more details. [EaterWire]

QUEEN VILLAGE — Philadelphia Business Journal has some updated details on the coming transition period at Southwark as the restaurant changes hands: New owners Chris D'Ambro and Marina de Oliveira tell PBJ that the previously announced temporary closure of the restaurant will come on June 30, to allow for a few weeks' worth of renovations to the space. They hope to reopen Southwark by August 1. (A forthcoming sibling restaurant will follow later.) [PBJ]
