Tuk Tuk Real Closing to Rebrand as Circles Thai

The Thai taqueria experiment is over.

This weekend is last call for fans of the Thai-Mexican fusion served at Alex Boonphaya and Silvestre Rincón-Tellez’s Tuk Tuk Real, which will close after service on Sunday, June 28 to be transformed into a third location of sibling Thai specialist Circles.

Tuk Tuk Real opened in September 2014 to a less than stellar critical response. Though the lamb massaman nachos earned kudos from the Inquirer and others, City Paper didn't find much else to like there, and Midtown Lunch flat-out deemed the effort a "tuk tuk fail."

The space should reopen as Circles in late July. As a side note: Both Circles locations will also be closed from June 29 through July 3 for a previously scheduled vacation.
