After a number of delays, highly anticipated Brick and Mortar is officially up and running in the Loft District, following a few nights of soft opening. The grand opening celebration tonight, Thursday, June 4, is a ticketed benefit for the upcoming Rail Park slated for the nearby Reading Viaduct (aka Philly's answer to the High Line). Tickets for the cocktail reception and after-party are still available; if you want to check out the full menu under normal circumstances, you might want to hold off.
The restaurant is aiming for "classic American tavern" vibes and boasts serious cocktail chops, with owner Mike Welsh and head bartender Christina Rando both alums of Franklin Mortgage. Chef Brian Ricci, formerly of Kennett, has put together an American menu incorporating diverse global influences and leaning more heavily toward small plates, plus a tight list of entrees focusing on rotisserie meats. See the full food and drink menus here.
Brick and Mortar will be open from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. seven days a week, with food served from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m.
