Whatever your summer plans look like, they won't be including any splurges at Volver — the Garces Group's restaurant and bar at the Kimmel Center is officially shuttered for the season, as noted by the Insider today and by a brief message on Volver's website. Just a couple of months after unveiling its "Season Two" tasting menus, the official word is that the entire operation is on summer break, with Bar Volver looking toward reopening on August 12 and the dining room returning on September 2.
That totals a six-week break for the bar and two months of downtime for the dining room. A new fall menu is expected upon the reopening of the main dining room. According to a rep for the group, the kitchen team will begin menu development later this month, while the service staff has been offered shifts at other Garces restaurants during the downtime.
The Garces Group earlier this year brought on Michelin-starred chef Justin Bogle (formerly of Avance) in the corporate executive chef role (he worked closely with the Volver team in developing its new spring menu, and will reportedly return to work on the next one), and more recently announced a partnership with Beard Award-winning pastry chef Michael Laiskonis to consult on and lead the group's pastry program.
