Owners Michael Strauss and Pete Fry have announced a new hire for the kitchen at Taproom on 19th. Chris Speero, whose resume includes stints at Amis and Osteria Moorestown, is now the bar's executive chef. He replaces outgoing chef Christina DeSilva, who headed to High Street on Market in June.
Speero will debut a new menu later this fall, honoring the bar's mission statement of offering "upscale stoner food" and drawing inspiration from South Philly traditions and homey comforts. The new chef also hopes to expand upon the bar's existing vegetarian and vegan options.
Before DeSilva and Speero, the exec position has been held by chefs Jenny Choplin and Elijah Milligan. Taproom on 19th will celebrate its second anniversary under Strauss and Fry this November.
