Tashan Closing Its Doors on South Broad

The modern Indian spot will end its run on Labor Day.

Tashan

This week in late-Friday bummers: Tashan has announced it will close for good this holiday weekend, after a four-year run. The upscale Indian spot will see its final service on Monday, September 7.

Restaurateur Munish Narula opened Tashan at 777 South Broad, with its luxe space courtesy of architect Winka Dubbeldam, in the fall of 2011. Sylva Senat was the opening chef, garnering high praise from critics before his sudden departure in 2013.

A rep for Narula chalks the shutter up to a decision to redirect focus toward opening more locations of Tiffin, Tashan's more casual sibling. Following the original location at Seventh and Girard, Tiffin is now up to nine locations (including South Philly's Tiffin Bistro) in and around Philadelphia and South Jersey.
